Jean Emily (Hutchings) Jones, age 83, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at home in Wichita, KS.
Jean was formerly a resident of Riverside, CA 1970-1987. She was born June 19, 1942, in Houlton, Maine to Mona May (Bulley) Hutchings and Horace Hutchings.
Beloved wife of Robert Gerald Jones, whom she married on February 1, 1978, in Riverside, CA.
Sister of Mary Ann Corbin and sister-in-law of Virginia Lee Runyon.
Loving mother of John Morgan Tangent (Barb Metz), Cristine Tamara Meredith, Kimberley Anne McQuade (James), and Linda Lee Shepard.
Cherished grandmother of Steven Michael Snyder, Michael Edward Snyder, Allison Jean Moreno (Mathew), Douglas Joseph Sherlock (Zareema Mangaru), Robert John McQuade, and Julia Leslie McQuade.
Devoted great grandmother to Brayden Joseph Moreno, Audrey Jean Moreno, Amalia Zoha Sherlock, Safa Rose Sherlock, and Noah Douglas Sherlock.
Preceded in death by her mother Mona May (Bulley) Hutchings, sisters Lois Dubois (Joe), Louise Turner, and brother Frederic Hutchings, her brothers-in-law, Chauncy Harley Jones, Camp Jones, and James William Jones, and sister-in-law Doris Grey.
Jean worked at the VA hospital in Wichita. She retired and continued volunteering at the VA, receiving the James H. Parke Achievement Award for 20,000 hours of volunteer service. She enjoyed her cats, listening to books, visiting the zoo, and peanut butter M & M’s.
