James "Jim" Wallace Watson was born in Wichita, Kansas, on May 19, 1942, to James Willis Watson and Rachel (Williams) Watson. He then became the bane of his older sister Carolyn's existence, as younger brothers do.

Jim died surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, August 4, in Wichita, Kansas.

Jim learned a love of Corvettes from his father, and they spent decades restoring the cars together.

The family moved to Parsons, Kansas in 1954.  Jim then graduated from Parsons High School in 1960.

Eventually coming back to Wichita, Jim met Alixe, married her in 1966, and had Amber Watson. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri later that year.

After their divorce, Jim moved back to Wichita and started working in the aircraft industry. In the early 1970's, Jim switched jobs and began working at Pepsi Cola Bottling as a route delivery driver.

Jim first met Vicki in 1973, but would not date her because of their age difference. Eventually the timing was right, and they married in 1977. Along came daughter Erin, and son James.

Jim's devotion to Pepsi, ensured that he instilled that devotion to all of his family. Pepsi paid the bills, so the family only purchased Pepsi, or went to Pepsi account restaurants. To this day, his daughter, Erin, is a Pepsi addict and fanatic, and his sister's children still only drink Pepsi.

Even though Jim and Vicki divorced in 2007, they remained good friends.

Jim's favorite, and only, grandchild, Camden, had him wrapped around her finger. Whether he was playing Barbies, Legos, or "hotel," they had a great time. If Camden wanted anything extra, also she had to do was call her Papaw and he'd say "yes."

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Carolyn Ney.

Jim is survived by his daughters Amber Watson (Bob Dundon), and Erin McQuilliam, his son James Watson, granddaughter Camden McQuilliam, ex-wife Vicki Watson-Adams, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 2:00pm at Glenville Church in Wichita, Kansas. Memorials can be donated in Jim's name to Glenville Church 4604 S. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market, Wichita, Kansas.
