Obituary

James (Jim) Marion Pickett, 58, of Wichita, KS, passed away Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at his home next to his wife. He was born February 28th, 1967, in Danville, IL, the youngest son of Carl and Marian (Furry) Pickett.


Jim graduated with a four year degree from Sanford Brown Business College after acquiring his GED.


He was a member of the Quality Assurance team at Wolters Kluwer for 30 years. Jim was a member of the Wichita Church of Christ and volunteered for the sound department within the church for over 30 years. He was best known for his compassionate and caring personality, as well as his interests in Dungeons & Dragons and cinema. He assumed legal guardianship of his niece and nephew when their parents were no longer able to continue caring for them.


He married Michelle L. Pickett (Wallick) on August 2nd, 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl A. Pickett and Marian M. Pickett; brother, Robert E. Pickett; sister Pamela K. Ibarra (Pickett), and sister Debra S. Herbig (Pickett).


Survivors include wife Michelle L. Pickett (Wallick), of Wichita, KS; child B M. Pickett of Wichita, KS; child and niece Morgan C. Herbig of Wichita, KS; son and nephew Phillip M. Herbig of Wichita, KS; son-in-law Cade A. Corcoran of Wichita, KS; sister Cynthia L. Weber (Pickett) of Twinsburg, OH; brother Richard E. Pickett of Leavenworth, KS; sister Cheryl A. Masters (Pickett) of Missouri; and countless nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the sound department of the Wichita Church of Christ in his name.
