James Taylor Johnson

Born July 2, 1935 on a hill just outside of Poughkeepsie, Arkansas and called home to be with the Awesome God he served on Feb 17, 2024 Wichita, Kansas at the age of 88 years, 7 months, 15 days.

Jim was the 4th child born to Edna Vada Jones Johnson and Lawrene Owen Johnson.  He is preceeded in death by parents, brothers Laverne and Cyril, sister Janice, and daughter Tamara Gail Murphy.  He is survived by spouse Bev, sons James Owen (Jimmy), Timothy Alan (Tim), brothers-in-law James Fisk (Mary Jo), Don Fisk, bonus daughters Jill Able (Dustin) and Melissa Gordon, 11 grandchildren: Tyler Stroud (Lacy] Tanner Stroud [Haley], Taesi Stroud, Sara Knight [Joe], Samantha Vrooman [Steve], Ryan [Amanda],  Sierra Murphy, Scott Johnson, Melissa Ford (Chris), Bradey Johnson, Michelle Mclane (James),10 great-grandchildren and one on the way, a special niece Diane (Warren Snyder), many treasured nieces and nephews, close friends Richard, Dena, and Seth Roeder,  the "bowling bunch" and his 4-legged buddy Milli.

Jim was a dedicated man of God and tried each day to live a life to manifest this Gift.  He was an active member of Council Hill Christian Church (Peck, Ks) serving on the leadership board for many years and treasured his church family beyond words.  He was a praying man, spending many hours each day in conversation with his Savior and reading God's word.  Jim was a fun-loving proud Marine, gentleman, husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend.  An avid supporter of the Wichita Chorus Sweet Adelines, he was proud to be a the only male member, and a lifetime member, of the chorus.

A Day of Celebration is planned Saturday March 30 at Council Hill Christian Church, 1268 No Seneca Road, Peck Kansas.  Inurnment at 10:30 Council Hill Cemetery (immediately south of church), service 11:15, luncheon 12:45, and visiting all afternoon.
