Obituary

James Wilbert Hagan, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 2, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital after a brief battle with an illness.
James was born on October 27, 1954, in Orange, Texas, to Wilbert and Dorothy (Taylor) Hagan. He graduated from West Orange High School with the class of 1973 and went on to attend Wichita State University, where he pursued a degree in Social Work.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, James served as military police at the Wichita Air Force Base in the late 1970s. Over the years, he held a variety of jobs that reflected his hard work and versatility—from working on a ranch in Montana, to serving as a newspaper editor, to running his own home maintenance business, and many things in between. Helping others in need brought him joy, as he never forgot the kindness shown to him during difficult times.

James had many passions in life, especially music and gardening. He was also a devoted supporter of Orange High School sports, cheering on his alma mater with pride each season.

On July 10, 1997, he married Donna Jean Lembcke, who survives him. James is also survived by his daughter, Melissa (Branson) Fawcett of Anthony, Kansas; his sister, Cecilia (Rick) Krivik of Houston, Texas; his brother, Kenneth Hagan of Jasper, Texas; grandson Noah Deere of Emporia, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter, Larry, and Michael Sr.; and sisters Claire Dee and Joan.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baker Funeral Home.
