Obituary

Jack Eugene Fordham, 94, of Wichita KS, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was born January 31,1929 in Wichita KS, the son of Gladwin A. & Sophia (Fuqua) Fordham.


Jack attended Wichita North H.S. and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy & College in 1947. He then joined the Army, becoming a member of the 82nd Airborne. He was a furniture salesman, starting as a teen at Fordham Furniture, Montgomery Ward, and several other companies around the country. Jack was an active member and officer at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church until their closure in 2020. He was a 32nd degree mason and a drummer in the Median Shriners Million Dollar Band.


Jack married Betty Hileman Finkbeiner on 8/23/77, she preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Gladwin and Sophia Fordham, son Jack Gregory Fordham, and sisters Peggy Zitzmann and Barbara McVicker Holly. Surviving family members include son, Craig Fordham (Norma) of Lenexa KS, daughter Denise Fordham (Gail Persily) of San Francisco CA, and step-children Mark Finkbeiner (Jeanne) of Warrenton OR, Pam Finkbeiner of Wichita, and Linda Finkbeiner (David Snide) of Derby KS, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.


He is remembered as a very kind, friendly, helpful, and generous man. Thank you for all the support from friends, and caregivers from Georgetown & Prairie Homestead assisted living facilities, numerous hospitals, and Harry Hynes Hospice Care Center.  He was very content in these places.   At his request there will be no services.
