Wichita Kansas-Glenn D Young Jr.  retired senior partner of Young, Bogle, Wells & Blanchard, PA. Died September 14, 2024.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Glenn D. and Thelma I. Young and his three older brothers Marvin, Wayne and Lynn Young. He is survived by his beloved wife Julie Ann Young of 47 years and their daughter, Danielle Nicole Young. From a previous marriage Deborah (Reece) Pullen, Michael (Jennifer) Young and Katherine (Donald) Cary , grandchildren Jeremiah (Kelsey), Justin (Kayla) and Joshua Cary and Jessica (Andy) Williamson, Mindy (Jack) Joseph, Matt (Jessica) Young and Meghann (Corey) Feldman; great grandchildren Colten, Ethan and Sloane Cary, Jace and Kade Cary, Coraline  and Ellis Cary, and Landry and Elliott Williamson, Claire, Caroline and William Joseph, Ellie and Natalie Young, and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Feldman.

Glenn was born in Bennet, Nebraska on January 20, 1931, and graduated from Firth High School in 1948. He was a small school, Class D basketball All-Stater. The USSR had started the Cold War and President Harry Truman had induced Congress to pass the Universal Military Training Act to commence drafting eighteen years olds. To avoid the draft, Glenn joined the Army in July 1948 and after completing military training he was shipped to West Germany where he played basketball and baseball for the next 42 months.

In May 1952 Glenn returned stateside to be mustered out of the service. When he came home he brought with him a new 1952 MG TD Midget sports car for which he paid $1485 cash. In September 1952 he enrolled at Kansas Wesleyan University and ended up lettering in basketball, football and golf. Graduating from Wesleyan, he enrolled in Washburn School of Law, Topeka, Kansas in February 1956 and finished school at the end of summer school, 1958. He took a position with the Kansas Attorney General's Office being assigned as special counsel to the Kansas Insurance Department and the Kansas Securities Commissioner's Office. He frequently had lunch with Alf Landon, 1936 Republican Candidate for President. Shortly after taking the Bar, he accepted a Captain's Commission in the Army Reserves as a Judge Advocate General.

Glenn joined Wichita's oldest law firm on September 1, 1963. He practiced with the firm until his retirement in July 2022 specializing in oil and gas, railroad and business law as a trial lawyer. His most notable litigation during his sixty years of practice was the federal class action cases referred to as the Consolidated Helium litigation which started in 1963 and lasted until 1990. Gerald Sawatzky of the Foulston firm and Glenn acted as lead counsel for the lessee-producers class of oil companies and ultimately recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for their clients and their landowners. Glenn has argued over 50 cases in the Kansas Supreme Court, the Kansas Court of Appeals, and the 10** Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and has been involved in several Petitions for Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Some of Glenn's primary interests are art, antique collecting, history and politics. He also was once a part owner of a German restaurant called the "Bratwurst Stuben" in 1970 and 1971. He took up tennis in 1976 after an ACL knee surgery from playing basketball at age 45 and continued playing five days a week for the next forty years. On May 8, 2018 the Wichita Bar Association presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award given for superior performance and to one whose accomplishments have brought credit and recognition to the profession and who has demonstrated exemplary ethics standards and high personal values.

Glenn was getting over a failed marriage when he attended a large Republican gathering on March 26, 1976, where Kansas Republicans met to decide whether they would support President Gerald Ford in his reelection or Ronald Reagan. Glenn was chatting with Don Concannon who was a candidate for Governor. He asked Don, "who is that gorgeous blond across the way?' Don said, "That's Julie Timmerman, Bill and Jewell Timmerman's daughter" and he introduced them. That started a beloved relationship that has lasted to this day. Danielle was born in July 1985. Danielle was Glenn's fourth child and Julie's first.
