Gina Jo (Jordan) Barker, 63, of Haysville, Kansas, went to be with her heavenly father on March 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 26, 1963, at Sedgwick County Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, to Barney and Betty Jordan.

Gina was raised in Wichita in a large, blended family and was the second-youngest of seven siblings. She grew up alongside her older brothers, Jeff and Vic, and her younger brother, Van, in a close-knit household where resilience and devotion to family were daily lessons. Her mother worked as an operator at a local cab company, and her father was a cab driver; Gina herself later took a job during her high school years, proudly working alongside her mom.

As a child, she was sweet and playful, spending long summer nights playing hide-and-seek with her younger brother and neighborhood friends until the wee hours of the morning. She loved road trips from Wichita to Humboldt, Kansas, to visit her beloved Aunt Mabel. In high school, she developed a love for business courses and even ran for class treasurer her senior year.

At just 15 years old at West High School, Gina met the love of her life, Christopher Wayne Barker. In her teenage diary, she wrote about "going with" Chris and how "great" he was, which was the beginning of a love and sweetness that endured for a lifetime. He would ride his motorcycle to her house, and together they would spend their days running around town with friends. Though Gina attended a Pentecostal church, Chris invited her to Westview Baptist Church, where, after hearing Pastor Frank preach, she began attending regularly. By the end of their senior year, Gina and Chris had grown deeply in their faith together and gave their lives to Christ, a shared commitment that became the cornerstone of their nearly 43½-year marriage.

In 2022, their three children surprised them with a 40th-anniversary celebration, during which Chris renewed his vows and presented Gina with a new wedding ring in front of family and friends—a beautiful reflection of the enduring love they shared.

Gina was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother. She is survived by her husband, Chris Barker (Wichita, KS); her three children, Stephen Barker and husband Ben Barker (Chicago, IL), Kenneth Barker and Wife Sara Barker (Wichita, KS), and Kristi Kanngeisser and husband Drew Kanngeisser (Haysville, KS); and her eight beloved grandchildren: Chloe, Hudson, Sawyer, Hannah, and Cora, and Claire, Emma, and Grace, all of Wichita and Haysville.

Her children were her entire world. Gina eagerly chose to become a full-time mother, believing there was no greater calling. When her grandchildren were born, her joy multiplied. She thrived as "GG," offering to serve as a caretaker for the grandbabies so she could be present for every milestone. She delighted in showering them with gifts, picking them up from practices, attending sporting events and school plays, and creating special outings just for them. Nothing brought her greater joy than her children and grandchildren — a joy she shared with Chris.

Throughout her life, Gina was never afraid of hard work. She worked as a receptionist, grocery store clerk, mailroom assistant, and even sold vacuums when duty called. Later, she found her dream job at Georgetown Village retirement community, where she began in the marketing office and eventually became Marketing Director, serving there for more than a decade. She was passionate about caring for the elderly — a calling shaped by her own experience caring for her mother, Betty, who passed away in 1992 at age 63 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis, and later supporting her father, Barney, through his struggle with dementia. Those experiences deepened her compassion and commitment to serving older adults with dignity and love.

Gina was deeply involved in her church community. Once their three kids came along, she and Chris moved their membership to Midway Baptist Church, where they thrived in children's and youth ministries. They championed the founding of Midway Christian School, where their three children attended during its inaugural year. Gina had a special heart for mentoring young girls and women, teaching Sunday school and leading small groups where many grew to love her as a spiritual guide and friend.

Gina will be remembered for her sweet spirit, playful wit, and deep devotion to those she loved. She was famously a picky eater, yet she made the very best mashed potatoes. She loved baking, especially during the holidays, when family and friends eagerly awaited her famous chocolate fudge. Chocolate in any form — molten lava cake, chocolate sheet cake, or fresh-baked cookies — brought her particular delight.

She is also survived by her siblings: Jeff Anderson (Wichita, KS), Vic Anderson (Wichita, KS), Van Jordan (Wichita, KS), and Patty Edwards (Austin, TX), along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Betty Jordan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Midway Baptist Church, 5135 S. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67216, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
