George Schaible, 90, a resident of Wichita, Kansas, died on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. George was born January 4, 1935, in Jersey City, N.J. He was recently preceded in death by his loving wife Debbie of 64 years.

George was commissioned into the Army Corp of Engineers as an Officer and served his country honorably as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, including two years in the 7th Medical Battalion in Korea. After his service in the U.S. Army, George had a long career as an engineer at the New York City Department of Health until his retirement in 1990. During his retirement, he enjoyed working as a bartender at Pocmont Resort in the Poconos for many years. Debbie and George raised their family in Massapequa, New York. They retired to Bushkill, Pennsylvania, followed by Conway, South Carolina, and recently moved to Wichita, Kansas.

George was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and proud owner/shareholder of the team. His and Debbie's passion for traveling would have them take 75 cruises around the world together.

George is survived by his son George D. Schaible (Janet) Smithtown, NY, daughter Colleen Schwartz (Frank) of Wichita, Kansas, son Gary Schaible (Sherri) Lewisville, TX, son Brian Schaible (Karlie) Jacksonville, FL, and preceded in death by his daughter Maureen Perih of Moscow, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Meghan Perih, Jillian Perih, Kevin Schaible, Frank Schwartz, Jack Schwartz (Monica), Julia Schwartz, Owen Schwartz, and Kayla Schaible, along with Slinky, his loyal cat companion during his last months. He was preceded in death by his brother Allen Schaible of Naples, Florida.

He will be missed by sisters-in-law Claire Bannerman (John Czapleski) Panama City Beach, Florida, Anita Sells-Reiter, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, brother-in-law Ed Biddlecomb, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, his Goddaughter Nancy Kindregan of Duxbury, MA, along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was recently preceded in death by his sister-in-law Barbara Taylor (James) of Duxbury, MA.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 1st at 2:30 PM at Grace Memorial Chapel at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.  Burial will be at a later date at Saint Catherines Cemetery, Moscow PA beside his loving wife and daughter.
