George Washington Darnell III ("Papa G")

November 1, 1963 – April 23, 2026

George Washington Darnell III, lovingly known as "Papa G," passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 62 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on November 1, 1963, in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

George built his life through hard work and dedication, spending his career as a skilled carpenter and later as a supervisor in the aircraft industry. He was known for his strong work ethic, his stubborn streak, and a sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone around him. He also had a deep appreciation for classic cars, something he truly enjoyed.

Above all, George was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother. He was funny, polite, and kind to everyone he met, and his presence brought comfort and laughter to those who knew him.

He is survived by his children: Sean Darnell; Cheri (Daniel) McCullough; Lauren Weaver; and Shayann Lindstrom. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Scott Darnell, Skylar (Connor) Searcy, Kaisen, Kynleigh, Hadley, and Eleanor Lindstrom, Ethan, Nate, Noah, and Evelyn Weaver, and Jaster McCullough. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Crue, Sagelynn, and Bexleigh. In total, George was blessed with four children, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

George is also survived by his sisters: Jayne (Blue) Ward, Diana (Dale) Cavender, and Shelia (Richard) Dowell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Darnell Jr. and Billie Jo Darnell.

George will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his humor, and the kindness he showed to others. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and deep family roots that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
