Gary Lee Hubman, 66, of rural Newton, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March  2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Wichita, Kansas.

Born on March 19, 1958, to Fred and Frances (Hullet) Hubman in Newton, Kansas,  Gary grew up in the Peabody area and graduated from Peabody-Burns High School  in 1976.

He shared 34 wonderful years with his wife, Rebecca (Freeman). Together, they  shared six children: Jeconiah (Jenna) Spangler, Rebecca (Andrew) Angulo, Donald  Jay McCullough, Amber (Michael) McCullough, Regina McCullough, and Megan  McCullough, along with their bonus daughter, Elizabeth Wiggins.

Gary had a varied career. He spent many years as both a long-distance truck driver  and a local dump truck driver, enjoying the freedom of the open road as well as the  familiarity of local country routes. In his younger years, he also worked as a horse  trainer at multiple stables, including Remington Park in Oklahoma City preparing  racehorses for the track, often with his beloved horse, Dusty.

Known for his calm and reserved nature, Gary had an open heart and a sharp wit,  always ready with a mischievous remark or a joke to make others laugh. His family  and friends cherished his sense of humor and the joy he brought to those around  him. Gary had a love for the outdoors, spending time farming and tinkering with  cars, trucks, and dirt bikes as well as going to the lake on family outings and water  skiing. At a young age, Gary became a skilled water skier, learning to slalom, even  barefoot. However, his true passion was horses, a love that remained with him  throughout his life.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rebecca; their six children; 19 grandchildren; sisters,  Linda (Bill) Simpson and Sherry (Dennis) Schmidt; as well as three nieces and two  nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Frances Hubman, and his beloved  grandchild, Brian McCullough.

A funeral service will be held on March 11, 2025, at Baker Funeral Home in East  Wichita, Kansas. A private family viewing will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by a  memorial service for friends and family at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at  Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas, at 1:00 PM.
