Gary Lee Albertson, 80, of Derby, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Via Christi Village in Wichita, Kansas.

Gary was born to Glyn and Marjorie Albertson on October 19th, 1944, in South Bend, Indiana. After attending grade school in Chanute, Kansas, his family relocated to Wichita, where he graduated from South High in 1962.

Gary worked as a carpenter and he built, with the occasional help of friends and family, three beautiful homes for his family throughout the years. His true passion, however, was home remodeling, and he kept busy with many referrals from people who deeply appreciated his craftsmanship.

Gary loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always ready to toss a football or build a clubhouse for the kids. He greatly enjoyed reading, watching movies, and family game nights, where he was always the heart of laughter from game mishaps.

Gary is survived by his wife, Vivian; sons Chris Albertson and Todd (Michelle) Albertson; daughter Jaime Alvarez; granddaughters Ashley (Austin) Brown, Savana Albertson, Taylor (Trent) Lovell, Meghan Beehler, Sofia Alvarez, and Olivia Alvarez; great-granddaughters Emmy and Addi Brown; and brother Paul Albertson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glyn and Marjorie Albertson; brother Dean Albertson; and sisters Ione Crow and Trudy Sunderland.

A celebration of life will be held August 3, 2025, in Derby, Kansas.
