Evelyn Bonita Kurz beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026. She was 78 years old.

Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband, John Kurz, her sister Kathy and her husband Henry, her daughters Christine, Jennifer, Bonnie and her son Thomas. She was the proud and loving grandmother to Austin. Jacquelyn and Madison. She was also blessed with great-granddaughters Isabel and Elizabeth. Evelyn's heart was never complete without her beloved dogs Lily, Buddy. Betsy and her grand-pup Finney.

Evelyn was born on April 26, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey and attended Marietta College. She began her professional career in the Educational Department of the New York Times and devoted herself to her family and raising her children in Rocky Point, New York.

Evelyn later made Apopka, Florida her home for 18 years, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Apopka High School. For the past 25 years, she called Wichita, Kansas home; most recently working as a bus monitor for Wichita Public Schools (USD 259), where her warmth and care touched the lives of many students.

Her laugh could light up a room and had a kind and generous heart that left a lasting impression on all who encountered her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.

A funeral mass will be held on February 28, 2026, at 1 PM at the Church of the Magdalen located at N127th Street and 21st Street Wichita, KS. Internment will be in Apopka, Florida in June. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Kansas Humane Society or the ASPCA.
