Reverend Edsel “Ed” Lovette, 79, of Augusta, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1947, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to Dorothy Compton and Herman Lovett.
Ed graduated from El Dorado High School in 1965 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Radioman 3rd Class. While stationed in Scotland, he met the love of his life, Annie, and they were married on March 15, 1967.
After leaving the Navy, he and Annie returned to El Dorado, where he worked several jobs, including time with Union Tank Car, before answering the call to ministry in 1979. For the next 25 years, Ed faithfully served and led two congregations—13 years in Concordia, Kansas, and 12 years in Augusta, Kansas.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; his father, Herman; his stepmother, Vernel Lovett; his daughter, Salena Lovette; and his nephew, Jimmy Bean. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Annie Lovette; his son, Stephen Lovette (Tiffany); his brother, Herman Lovette (Michelle); his sister, Linda Bean (Jim); nieces Lisa Lovette, Lori Tovar (Sam), Neely Schurtz (Doug), and Shanna Story (Darren); grandchildren Alex Moore (Devin), Zachary Veal, Coban Honey (Riley), Madaline Lovette; and great-grandchildren Brody Veal, Tycen Moore, and Mila Moore.
