Edith Marie Wolke 97, of Derby Kansas, went to her heavenly home on July 31, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital in the Harry Hynes Hospice surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born in Wichita, Kansas to Carl and Clara (Lawhorn) Witters on April 1, 1929. She graduated high school in Wichita Kansas at East High in 1947. Marie met and married Ralph Wolke on January 2, 1948, eventually settling in Derby, Kansas where she raised 3 boys and 4 girls, enjoying gardening and chasing cattle. She was very active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Derby for over 75 years and loved the Lord. She loved cooking for her family and loved having her grandkids over for visits, there would always be cookies in the cookie jar waiting.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Clara Witters, husband Ralph Wolke, son Phillip Wolke, son-in-law Troy Barnes, granddaughter Sara Wolke, grandson Mark Nation Wolke, great granddaughter Natania Wolke, sisters Helen Robinson, Virginia Odel and Carlene Murray.
She is survived by her children Steve (Suzie) of Derby Kansas, Janice Hickok of Las Vegas Nevada, Connie Allen of Derby Kansas, Maxine Barnes of RoseHill Kansas, Mary (Dean) Carlson of Lancaster Minnesota, Tim (Tammy) Wolke of Haysville Kansas and 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
A rosary will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Derby, Kansas on Thursday, August 6th at 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, August 7th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
