Douglas B.
Maib
Mar 2, 1955 — Sep 19, 2025
Wichita
Douglas Bradney Maib, 70, of Wichita passed away September 19, 2025, at home, surrounded by those who loved him.
Doug was born March 2, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Robert Allen Maib and Marian Dedrick Maib. He graduated from Wichita High School Southeast in 1973. In high school, he played string bass in the orchestra, tuba in band, and sousaphone in the marching band.
Doug learned the locksmith trade at Montgomery Wards Key Shop at the Wichita Mall, and later opened his own business, Douglas Key Service. He eventually sold that business and worked in call centers for Sears and Southwestern Bell, and later worked in logistics for CTA. Doug was a smart, kind, loving person with a big heart, and a devoted friend to all who knew him.
Doug was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Bob.
He is survived by his beloved companion of 46 years, Toni Cox, of the home. Other survivors include his brother David Maib and wife Mary of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sister-in law Sue Tincher Maib of Rogers, AR; sister Helen Maib of Bellingham, WA; and nephew
Charles Maib, wife Saori and great-nephew John Maib, all of Sagamihara City, Japan. He also leaves behind a wealth of dear friends and neighbors.
A memorial gathering will be held at Jimmie's Diner, 3111 N Rock Rd in Wichita, from 2-4 pm on Sunday, October 19th. Friends and family are invited to join and share their memories of Doug.
In honor of Doug, the family suggests that you share a laugh with a good friend, and also follow his example by telling those dearest to you how much you love them, as often as you can. And if you wish, you might also consider a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
