Doris Josephine Swortwood

Doris Josephine (Phillips) Swortwood, 86, passed away on October 27, 2026. A loving matriarch, devoted mother and grandmother, and joyful spitfire, Doris brought plenty of life, laughter, and spirit wherever she went.

Doris was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan who enjoyed everything from Bingo to Bull Riding. In her youth, she was an exceptional ice skater. Over the years, she wore many hats—as a Homemaker, Avon Lady, Merchandiser, Personal Assistant, Recreation Director at the Masonic Home, and Hospice Care Worker. Whatever the role, she had a way of making people feel cared for.

She is survived by her children: Terry Swortwood and partner Kris Brown; Sherrie Brooks and Brian Brooks; Karry Jacobson and partner Steve Castanada; and Tony Swortwood—her favorite, according to Tony. She was a proud grandmother of nine: Krista, Brenton and Jeff Swortwood; Megan Brooks and Stacie Becker; Garrett Jacobson; and Patrick, Alyssa and Georgia Swortwood. Doris was also blessed with 12 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Doris is also survived by her brother Sammy Phillips (Nita Phillips); her sisters Diana Perry (Dick Perry), and Pat Fromm (Jack Fromm); her beloved cats, Romeo and KiKi; and an unbelievable number of grand-pets and great-grand-pets.

She was preceded in death by her father, H. J. Phillips Sr.; her mother, Orva Lee Phillips; and her brothers H. J. Phillips Jr. and Mike Phillips.
