On June 15, 2025, just in time for the ultimate Father's Day celebration, Donald Leo Salters, II, age 80, upgraded his address to Heaven and got the best seat in the house with his Heavenly Father. We know he RSVP'd for this celebration a long time ago, and now he's received his reward because of what he believed. We thank God for giving us 80 years with this man as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

We've chosen a photo from his earlier years, as it reflects the vibrant man he was and how many of us continue to picture him.

Born in Harper, KS, Don made his grand entrance on August 14, 1944, to Donald and Georgie Salters. He graduated from Harper High School in 1962 and went on to attend Wichita State University (Go Shockers!) before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. The heat of the boiler room on the ship convinced him it was time to move on, but he always carried a quiet wish that he had stayed in longer, believing it might've helped him provide better for his family.

He is now joyfully reunited with his parents, Donald and Georgie, who no doubt greeted him with open arms and his favorite meal.

Here on earth, he leaves behind a loving crew: his wife and best friend, Virginia Kay Salters; his children, Stacy, Tony, and Courtney Salters; his grandchildren, Rain (Rosie), Lilly, Violet, and Matthew; his sister, Cheryl Moon; and his brother, Gene Salters.

We're leaning into the promises of Revelation 21:4, Psalm 23, and John 14:1–3 as we picture Don in a place with no pain, no tears, and, let's be honest, probably an endless game of Bridge. We're pretty sure he's already moonwalking with Michael Jackson, sporting a full head of hair, all ten fingers, and a perfect smile.

A burial with military honors will take place at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, KS, 67156 at 11:00 am on July 11, 2025 at 1208 N. College St. Flowers should be delivered the day before, July 10, to the cemetery.
