Donald Dean Cranston Sr., "Duck", 88 passed away Saturday, November 16th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 3, 1936, in Ransom, KS, the son of Harry and Kathyrn (Litzenberger) Cranston.

Don graduated in Garden City, Kansas. He then married Vivian Lefort on July 18, 1955 until January 1970, she now resides in Salina, KS. They had 4 children together- Linda Pickett, Steve Cranston, Dean  Cranston and Anita Weinhold. He was later married to LaVene Holcomb on June 19, 1971. Her 3  daughters Sharon Schartz, Sandy Sandy and Shelli Ehret then joined the family.

Don worked as a diesel mechanic for Diesel Equipment and later became the General Manager. He worked for the company for over 42 years. He served at his church as an usher and he had many hobbies which included many summers swimming around the pool, camping, bowling, traveling and going on cruises. He also became a single engine pilot, and was an avid Chiefs fan. Don enjoyed being a member of the Lions Club, was a Midian Shriner, and also enjoyed reading to school kids in his retirement years.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Kathryn Cranston, Wife Lavene Cranston, His brother Gerald Cranston, His sister Valda Frank and another sister Shirley Ball. His daughters Shelli Ehret and Sandy Sandy. His son in law Tommy Pickett, daughter in law Penny Cranston and a grandson Scott Hall.

Survivors include sister, Dana Unruh of Garden City, Ks., daughter Linda Pickett of Kanopolis, Ks., daughter Anita Weinhold (Barry) of Ellsworth, Ks., son Steve Cranston (Ramona) of Newton, Ks., son  Dean Cranston (Linda) of Wichita, Ks., daughter Sharon Schartz of Silbee, Tx. And numerous grandkids, great grand kids and great- great grandkids.

Funeral services will be on Saturday 23, 2024 at 10:30 am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N Tyler Rd, Wichita, Ks. Memorials may be given to Harry Hynes Hospice and Ascension Lutheran Church in his  name.

God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched
you suffer, and saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
God broke our heats to prove,
He only takes the best.
Each time we see your picture,
you seem to smile and say,
"Don't cry I'm in God's hands,
we'll meet again someday!"
