Obituary

Diana Kay Burns, 80, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Wesley Hospital after battling cancer.  She was born August 9, 1944, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of  Mary Francis and Calvin Burns.

Kay graduated from Hutchinson High School and then attended Wichita State University and earned her bachelors degree in education.  She spent her career being a teacher and had a passion caring for children.  After she retired, she volunteered at various churches teaching them in Vacation Bible Camp and taking care of toddlers.

She was preceded in death by her brother Scott Burns, sister Conny Lucas (Nick) and mother Mary Francis Burns and father Calvin Anderson Burns.

Survivors include her brother Clark Burns (Nancy) of Leawood Kansas and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

She was generous and thoughtful and loved Jesus.  She died in peace knowing she was going to Heaven.  She said Jesus had a sense of humor that beats all.  She said she always leaned on the Lord and He guided  and protected her.

Kay's absence will be felt deeply by all of us who had the joy of knowing her.  We will miss her smile and laughter and all the beautiful cards she sent us to celebrate special occasions.

The family and close friends will hold a private graveside service on September 11, 2025, in Partridge Kansas at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to be sent to the Partridge Community Church.
