Denzel H. Struthers, age 85, of Clearwater, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1939, to Henry and Elizabeth Taylor of Severy, Kan.
Denzel was born in Severy and graduated from Latham High School. She was an extraordinary basketball player, loved working on the oil wells with her dad, and enjoyed playing in a band with her family. She would go on to marry Ralph Struthers of Clearwater, where the two worked the farm together and raised their family. Denzel loved the farm life, taking care of all her animals and especially enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren as they competed in many sports over the years. Everyone knew Denzel by her infectious laugh and positive spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kay Taylor, and her husband Ralph.
She is survived by her sons, Jack (Kelly) Burkholder of Wichita; and Jonas (Tiffany) Struthers of Clearwater; daughters, Denise (Barry) Burkholder of Towanda, Maria Struthers of Clearwater, Sara (Dennis) Schmidt of Douglass, Faith McNelley of Clearwater, Crystal (Kyle) Hough of Wichita; step-children, Dean Struthers of Winfield, Earl (Fran) Struthers of Viola, Lois Struthers of Clearwater, Gloria Conner of Winfield; brother, Randy (Arlene) Taylor of Texas; nephew Wes (Vickie) Struthers of Clearwater; nieces Lynette (Ray) Koch of Clearwater; Jerri (Troy) Rex of Texas, and Kandy (Michael) Wheat of Louisiana; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Haverhill Christian Church, 10275 SW Haverhill Rd, Augusta, KS. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society and Faith Home Health and Hospice.
Baker Funeral Home of Wichita was in charge of arrangements.
