Dennis Wayne Tessendorf

Dennis W. Tessendorf, 62, of Newton, KS passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on August 17, 2026, at home.

Dennis was born on April 15, 1964, in Metter, Georgia, to Arthur (Gene) Tessendorf and Delores J. Sartain.

On September 26, 1987, Dennis married the love of his life, Gina Anthony, in Newton. Together, they built a life in Newton and raised their son, Anthony J. Tessendorf.

Dennis worked as a “Jack of all Trades” for several years. He had incredible knowledge of construction, roofing and auto mechanics. He had a brilliant mind that could always figure out what needed to be done.

Hunter, Dennis’s grandson and best friend, was the light of his life. Dennis would glow when he spoke of Hunter. They did everything together. They shared a unique bond, one that will never be broken. They learned a lot from one another.

Dennis is survived by his mother – Delores Sartain, son Anthony Tessendorf (Bailey), grandchildren; Hunter Tessendorf and Zoey; and siblings, Ronnie Sartain (Cyndi), Phyllis Terbovich (Billy), Annie Clark (Gary), Doug Tessendorf, Bj Krogmeier (Travis), J.R. Sartain (Kati). He was preceded in death by his wife – Gina Tessendorf, father – Gene Tessendorf, step-father – Gerald Sartain Sr., brother – Tom Tessendorf and sisters - Donna Tipton and Terry Sartain.

Memorial services will be held on August 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Camp Hawk Community Building located at 1801 SW 36th St, Newton, KS 67114. Donations can be made to Anthony Tessendorf, 423 E 5th St, Newton, KS 67114 to assist with the burial and headstone.
