Dennis Jay Holtz

Dennis Jay Holtz, 62, of Derby, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2026.

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who lived his life with a deep sense of service and an unwavering commitment to his family. For most of his life, Dennis served the Wichita community as a police officer, dedicating himself to helping and protecting others.

To those who knew him, Dennis was much more than a police officer. He was a man who could make people laugh, who showed up when he was needed, and whose strength, loyalty, and sense of humor left an impression on everyone around him. His humor, stories, and the way he lived his life will be remembered forever.

Dennis was the heart and foundation of his family. Whether you called him Dad, Dennis, Denny, Papa, or Grandpa, you knew an honest and admirable man who loved his family deeply and took great pride in the people they became. His greatest joy in life was the family he built, and his lasting legacy will be the values he passed down.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Kim Holtz; daughter, Jayna, and son-in-law, Daylnn Anderson; son, Colton, and daughter-in-law, Kinsley Holtz; parents, Verna and Harold Holtz; brothers, Jeff (Genoveva) and Kurt (Marcie) Holtz; and his beloved grandchildren, Millie, Brayden, Dean, Hadalyn, Ryleigh, and Halden. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Scooter, whom he loved despite his flaws.

Dennis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He may be gone, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the example he set will be the cornerstone of his family for years to come.

The most important thing in Dennis’ life was his family—and he will forever be the foundation on which they stand.

Services will be held October 3rd at 1:30 PM at The Well Worship Center at 200 W. Greenway, Derby Kansas 67037.
