Dennis Elton Doornbos, June 30 1947-August 1, 2025

Dennis Doornbos, 78, died Friday morning, August 1, 2025. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas on June 30 1947, the son of Robert and Margaret (Haines) Doornbos. He grew up on a farm north of El Dorado, and graduated from El Dorado High School, class of 1965.

Dennis joined the United States Air Force in 1969 and was trained as a Munitions Specialist. He was stationed on Guam, arming and loading planes with bombs going to Vietnam. He was discharged from the military in 1973. April 30, 1977 Dennis married Chris Cibolski (Wichita).

Dennis trained as a machinist at Bradley Machine Shop, Wichita, KS and worked there during the winter months. Summers were spent working with Doornbos Custom Cutters, his family's ensilage harvesting business. In 1982, he was hired full-time at P & T Machine Shop, El Dorado.

Dennis moved his career to Boeing/Spirit Aircraft in 1990 and retired after 25 years in 2015.

His passion was restoring and repairing anything mechanical. His precision and perfection aided him in hand-crafting parts that were obsolete. He was truly a master machinist. Dennis is survived by his wife, M. Chris Doornbos, Douglass, KS, sons Cymon Doornbos, Wichita,KS, Wyatt Doornbos, Lawrence, KS, and sister, Teresa Bachman, El Dorado, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Doornbos. Leon. KS.

Graveside services are scheduled for October 13th at 11:00 am at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas.  Inurnment to follow.
