Deloris “Dee Dee” Ann Jones-Johnson was born August 25, 1966, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Carlos Jones and Lorene Althea Norwood-Jones. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, just seventeen days before her 60th birthday, Deloris completed her earthly journey in Wichita, Kansas.
Throughout her life, Deloris's journey carried her from Arkansas to Liberal, Kansas; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Emporia, Kansas; and ultimately to Wichita, Kansas, where she made her home.
On February 14, 1991, Deloris married Fred Larry Johnson, and together they built a family that became one of the greatest sources of love, laughter, pride, and memories in her life. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Fred; her two daughters, Andrea Brittiny and Lorene Delores; her beloved grandchildren, JaCorie, Jayden, Amaya, and Alexia “Lexi”; her siblings, Tisha Mae Jones and Edward J. Jones; along with extended family, friends, and countless others whose lives were touched by her presence, which was difficult to overlook and even harder to forget.
Dee Dee was truly a people person with a big heart, a wonderful sense of humor, generosity, passion, fire, and undeniable style. Her smile could brighten a room, and her personality naturally drew people to her. She also had a sharp tongue when needed and wasn't afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground. She loved music, shopping and fashion, church, laughter, spending time with family, and making memories with those she loved. She dreamed for her family before they could dream for themselves, always seeing possibilities in them they may not yet have seen.
Whether you knew Dee Dee for years or encountered her only briefly, she had a way of leaving an impression. Her faith was an important part of her journey, and Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Emporia, Kansas, became her church home.
Deloris faced many trials and tribulations throughout her life, including difficult seasons and sickness, but she continued to meet life's challenges head-on with courage, determination, passion, and faith. She was strong. She was courageous. She was brave. And above all, she was loved.
Deloris was welcomed into eternal rest by her loving parents, Carlos Jones and Lorene Althea Norwood-Jones, and her older brother, Carlos Jones Jr.
As we celebrate Deloris, we remember the laughter, the fire, the fashion, the conversations, the strength, the love, and that unmistakable Dee Dee energy. Her journey here may be complete, but her impression remains in every story told, every memory shared, and every piece of her carried forward through those she loved.
Deloris “Dee Dee” Ann Jones-Johnson was here. She lived. She fought. She loved. And she will never be forgotten.
