Debra Renee Unrein

Debra Renee Unrein, 70, of Wichita, KS, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Wesley Hospital on Friday, October 9th at 12:51 p.m. She was born on March 5th, 1956 in Wichita, KS the daughter of George Bauer and Naomi Rausch.

Debra graduated from North High School and went to work for Via Christi St. Francis for 33 years. She donated religiously to the Shriners Foundation, Fire Department, ASPCA, and Wichita Police to name a few.

She married the love of her life James Unrein in May 1999. He preceded her in death on February 1st, 2020. They were married for 27 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Naomi Bauer; brothers Richard Bauer and Chris Bauer; sisters Anita St. Peter and Suzette Cotton; and her best friend Teri Short.

Survivors include her daughters Tiffaney and Lindsay Bass; grandchildren Alexis (Sam) Matlock, Daniel Frampton, Gage Meek, Tyson Courtright, Matt and Miles Forbus and Kenzie (Zach) Hansmeyer; 4 great grandchildren - Madison Matlock, Dynasty Courtright, and Aubrey and Ava Hansmeyer. 

A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held on October 25, 2026 at The Median Shrine Center - 130 N. Topeka - Wichita, KS at 1:00 p.m.
