Obituary

Deborah (Debbie) Elise West, 74, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 8th, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born September 27th, 1950 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Elise and John Muth Sr.

Debbie grew up in and attended school in the Mulvane and Derby areas. She finished her last couple years of high school and graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in May of 1968.

Debbie worked in the healthcare field for most of her life. She worked at both Via Christi and Wesley as a Nurse Assistant. Her last 20 years were spent as a unit clerk at Wesley on the Neurology and Ortho unit.

Debbie married Charles E. West Jr. on August 14th, 1970. They would have celebrated 55 years together this summer. Charles and Debbie had two children together, Sherry L. West (Morley) of Wichita, Kansas, and Brian C. West of Joppa, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elise and John Muth Sr.

Debbie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, completing word searches, and anything and everything Elvis Presley. She had a large collection of his memorabilia. She was always such a joy to be around, cracking jokes and making silly faces. She was a friend to all and accepting of almost everyone she met.

Debbie is survived by her husband Charles E. West Jr.; daughter Sherry L. Morley of Wichita, Kansas; son Brian C. West of Joppa, Maryland; brother John A. Muth Jr. of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Staci D. Lueck (Spencer); Braden M. West; Stephanie R Shultz (Johnathan); Tatum J. West; Rebecca L. Conrad; her great-granddaughter Kyra R. Lueck; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Debbie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 9th, 2025 at St James Episcopal Church 3750 E Douglas Ave Wichita, KS 67208. There will be a lunch/reception following the service at her Granddaughter's house.
