Darrell Dean Simler, Jr.

Darrell D. Simler Jr. passed on August 12, 2026 in St. Francis Via Christi. He was born on May 22, 1946 to Darrell D. Simler Sr. and Helen Inkelaar in Wichita Kansas. He attended Wichita North High School.. He loved driving trucks. He worked for Graves Trucking and many other trucking companies for 44 years.

Darrell had four children Dean, Don, Cheri and April. January 1, 1986 Darrell married Linda Licklider acquiring two daughters in love: Teresa and Diana.

Survivors include wife Linda (of 39 and a half years), children Dean, Cheri, April, Teresa and Diana along with 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother Arthur, sisters Stephanie and Janeine along with many nieces and nephews. Son Don and sister Gracia preceded him in death.

Darrell and Linda traveled extensively and spent winters in the Rio Grand Valley.

Viewing will be Tuesday August 18, 2026 at Baker Funeral Home, 6100 East Central from 5 to 7 pm. Graveside service at Old Mission Mortuary and Crematory, 3424 E. 21st St (will need to enter cemetery off of Hillside) at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Darrell's name. stjude.org
