Darrell Duane
Anderson
Jun 22, 1951 — Mar 23, 2026
Andover
Darrell Duane Anderson, Jr, 74, of Andover, KS exchanged this earthly world for his heavenly eternity March 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and dear friends. He entered this world full of vim and vigor, the only child of Darrell Leonard Anderson, Sr. and Vanda Lee (Lovercheck). His family, including the cousins he considered siblings, moved to Wichita, KS attending Bridgeport and Heights High, where he wrestled and played football and baseball, graduating in 1969. After high school he married and welcomed two sons into the family. In 1977 he married the love of his life, Laurie (Fain) and shortly after his two daughters were born.
Darrell spent most of his professional career in the auto parts business, working at many of the large dealerships in Wichita. Before his retirement, he owned his own business, D & L Parts and Body. He loved bowling with his mother and wife and playing racquetball and softball. Darrell was an avid and loyal fan of his beloved Nebraska Huskers, but also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in whatever sport they were in. After retirement he enjoyed volunteering his time. He was a Riverfest volunteer for over 30 years, eventually joined by his daughter Cie and grandson Mo. He was very active with the Masonic Home Lodge, holding office, and organizing many fundraisers like the inaugural pancake feed. He enjoyed spending time with the residents of the Masonic Home, driving the bus, and taking them out to enjoy the community. He was a dedicated scorekeeper and supporter of the West High boys and girls soccer teams for many years. At Christmas you could find Darrell in his Santa suit bringing joy to the children of Wichita and Tulsa, often joined by Mrs. Claus (Laurie), and elves (Ashley, Mo, and Mari).
Through his journey, Darrell profoundly impacted many lives with his wisdom (especially about coins), his humor (he had the best Santa ho, ho, ho), and his generous heart. His bereaved family left with the greatest memories include wife of nearly 50 years Laurie, sons David (Kyle) and Dareck, daughters Cie (Jeremy) and Ashley (John Jackson), grandchildren Zephaniah, Finlay, Mauricio, Mariano (Jordan), and Justice, and great grandson, who adored his papa, Cory Lee.
If you would like to celebrate Darrell's legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love please join those that knew and adored him at his life celebration to be held Saturday April 4, 2026, 11:00 am, at Andover Baptist Church, 1043 S. Andover Rd in Andover, KS. In honor of Darrell, please slow down, enjoy life, and be kind.
