Dalton Fay Patterson, 85, passed away on May 7, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1941, to Clare Sr. and Jessie (Malcom) Patterson.

Dalton was raised on the family dairy farm, Patterson Dairy Farm, alongside his two brothers. Growing up on the farm instilled in him the values of hard work, responsibility, perseverance, and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. Those who knew Dalton admired his strong work ethic, steady leadership, generosity, and willingness to help others. He was known for treating people with kindness and respect and for building lasting friendships throughout the community.

He attended Washington Rural Grade School, Augusta High School, Butler Community College, and Wichita State University. As a young man, he was deeply involved in 4-H, serving as president of the Washington Willing Workers 4-H Club and earning recognition as a two-time 4-H Rodeo State Champion.

On October 10, 1959, Dalton married the love of his life, Sonja Taylor. Together they built a loving family and shared more than 66 years of marriage.

Dalton retired from Beech Aircraft in 1994, where he served as Manager of Supply Management Systems. In addition to his professional career, he was an entrepreneur who built and owned Space Station Storage and Affordable Mini Storage facilities throughout Augusta, El Dorado, Douglass, and the Wichita area.

A dedicated supporter of his community, Dalton was active in numerous civic and educational organizations. He served on the Augusta Planning Commission, was involved with Augusta Progress, Inc. and the Augusta Community Foundation, and faithfully supported Butler Community College as both a Trustee and member of the Butler Community College Foundation Circle of Gold Society.

Above all else, Dalton was devoted to his family. He was the person everyone called when they needed help, advice, or simply someone they could count on. Whether it was a flat tire, a broken-down car, a project that needed fixing, or a difficult moment in life, family members knew they could always call Grandpa Dalton. He was always there, always answered the phone, and never hesitated to help his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. His steady presence, dependability, and unconditional love meant more to his family than words can express.

Dalton was preceded in death by his parents, Clare and Jessie Patterson; his sister, Clarice Aletha Patterson; and his brother, Clare Elton Patterson, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Sonja, son Cary (Marsha), daughter Cory (Dan Topping), and brother Allan (Barbara).

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Candace Dieker; Brandi Biggart (Mason Roberts); Courtney Patterson-Manfredi (Mia Manfredi); Natalie Biggart (Joshua Clasen); Cale Patterson (Rachael Maestas); and Brandt Patterson (Kelsey).

Dalton was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Taylor Biggart-Hartness, Braxton Anderson, Carson Wood, Britton Anderson, Theodore Dieker, Stelio Manfredi, Lana Wood, Harper Kornelson, Giselle Manfredi, Essence Weir, Gaia Weir, and Meadow Weir.

Dalton was an inspiration to many and treasured by countless friends throughout the Augusta area. His legacy of integrity, generosity, leadership, and devotion to family and community will be remembered for generations.
