Charles (Chuck) Walter Thorpe 72, died at home on June 4, 2025 in Haysville Kansas.  Chuck was born July 16, 1952 in Liberal Kansas to Walter Dean Thorpe and Lorraine Thorpe. From age two he grew up in Valley Center Kansas.

Chuck loved sports, particularly baseball and basketball. Growing up he played baseball and as an adult, he, along with his
his brother Mike loved going to Wichita State Shocker games. Chuck also loved fishing and hunting and for many years he had his own backyard pond that he stocked with fish and his friends enjoyed using the boat to fish in the pond.   Road trips were another of his favorite things, one year taking his niece all over the state of Kansas visiting historical sites to enrich her family history. In later years, lots of trips were made to Topeka to spend time with his son and family and especially his granddaughter Chloe.  The most recent trip was to South Dakota with his sister and fiancé, travelling to Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, the Badlands and many other locations.

Chuck had a variety of employment opportunities from working on the railroad, supervising cable splicing teams for Southwestern Bell, selling real estate, renovating houses, and running his own business in landscaping and irrigation systems, plus a few more. And along with being ambidextrous, the end result was having talent and experience to fix just about anything. With best friend, Jim Ash, many projects were undertaken successfully.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Lorraine Thorpe of Valley Center, Ks; his brother and wife, Lloyd Michael Thorpe and Janet Lyn Thorpe of Wichita, Ks.

Chuck is survived by his son Ernest (Buddy) Kester, wife Brandi and granddaughter Chloe of Topeka Ks; LaDena Gizas, sister, and Fiancé Terry Hale of Safety Harbor Fl along with nieces Dara Hoffman and family of Linthicum Md; Demi Gizas and Eddie Bell, Fiancé of Dallas Texas, of Safety Harbor Fl, Ariana Thorpe of Phoenix, Az; nephews Patrick Thorpe and family of Derby, Ks; Zachary Thorpe and family of Oldsmar, Fl; and Dion Gizas and family of Huntsville, Al.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 21st at the Lions Club shelter in Riggs Park, 706 Sarah Lane, Haysville, KS from 9:30 am- 11:30 am.
