Byron Raymond Baum, 82, of Leon, Kansas, passed on Monday, June 23, 2025, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Services are scheduled for Monday, June 30th at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 107 S Maple, Douglass, KS. Graveside Services will be held shortly after at Douglass Cemetery.
He was born on December 26, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, to Manford Raymond Baum and Lenora Margret Fisher-Baum.
He attended Douglass school, graduating in 1960. He loved wrestling and auto mechanics. Out of high school, he worked for Schofield dealership before going to work for Boeing Aircraft. He retired after 35 years to farm on his homestead.
He was a hard worker and had a strong spirit that he instilled in his daughters. He never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vickie Baum, Brother Albert (Sandy) Baum, Daughters Stephanie (Chip) Rogers, Melanie Baum, and Melinda (Dave) Shaw. Stepdaughter, Staci (Eugene) Potts. He had 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his mother, father, and sisters, Marilyn McBride and Patricia Fisch, and nephew Raymond Merritt Clay.
The pallbearers are Kaleb Jeffery, Michael Potts, Mahlon Hart, Jimmy Lowry, Manford Baum, and Charles Baum. Joe Redden, Honorary.
Memorial to the Douglass Senior Center, 124 W 4th St, Douglass, KS 67039. He loved attending lunch once a month with his high school classmates.
Arrangements are through Baker Funeral Home, Wichita, KS.
