Britt William Mauk, 69, of Wichita, KS, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center from complications related to diabetes. He was born September 12, 1954 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS. Britt was the fourth child of Eugene and Nadine Mauk.

Britt attended S. Pleasant Valley Elementary, P.V. Jr. High and Heights High School. While in 9th grade at P.V. Jr. High he purchased a set of Ludwig drums using earnings from his paper route. He found drums was a great pastime and played in Heights' Jazz Band and Marching Band. Once at a City-wide high school band event, a professional drummer, Buddy Rich, who was at the event, came up to Britt and congratulated him on his performance. During and after high school he worked for Safeway at Twin Lakes as a sacker and later he was a checker. He graduated from Heights High School in 1973. In March 1974 he enlisted into the Army. He served with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley performing in the Army Band and spent a short time in Germany. So, he was able to continue his love for playing drums. After his time in the Army he worked for awhile doing various jobs in Louisiana and Texas. He came back to Wichita and had his first son, Bryl, in 1979. He began working for The Boeing Company in Wichita and, for a short time, in Lake Charles, LA. He was working in various capacities including the anodizing dept., a manager while in Lake Charles, on 767's and as a supplies and parts manager when he finished his career.

Britt grew up attending Fairview Christian Church and returned there later in life for a period. God knows who will be his and He opened up Britt's heart while in high school where he became a believer in Jesus Christ. Britt believed John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Britt is preceded in death by his son Bryl Mauk; parents Eugene and Nadine Mauk. Survivors include siblings Beverly Garner of Whiting, NJ; Wyatt Mauk of Aurora, CO; Merrill Mauk of Wichita, KS; Reece Mauk of Hillsboro, OR; his 3 wonderful sons, William Mauk (Tracie) of Wichita, KS; Brant Mauk (Ginger) of Tulelake, CA; and Lee Mauk of Honolulu, HI; one grandson Liam Mauk and 2 granddaughters Alissia Mauk and Audrianna Mauk. He loved them dearly in his life.

Burial service, no viewing, will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary & Gardens of Memory, 11800 US-54, Wichita, KS 67209. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to People and Partners Cerebral Palsy Foundation (yourcpf.org). His oldest boy, Bryl, had cerebral palsy. He was born with the umbilical cord around his neck. He was never able to talk, walk on his own or hear. With help, Bryl could stand and walk which was a favorite pastime for him. He was the cutest boy with a terrific smile. I believe Britt would appreciate giving to this organization.
