He was born on March 9, 1961, in Gainesville, Florida, to Wayne and Barbara Wildes, who preceded him in death. Brian's life was one of both connection and distance, and his journey was not always an easy one. In his later years, he found comfort in attending church, seeking peace, reflection, and a sense of connection in his own way.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Hedrick; his children, Marrisa (Adam) and Russell (Summer) Wildes; his stepchildren, Mellissa Brim, Mike Hedrick, and Chris Hedrick; his three brothers, Phillip, Keith, and Kevin; and one sister, Terri; 10 grandchildren, Natalya, Alexander, Mac, and Whyett Wildes, Keelee Horn, Haley (Tyler) Jacobs, Abby Hicks, Deiontrae Jr., Olivia, and Mel Brim; and 6 great-grandchildren. Each carries their own memories and reflections of his life.
