Bonnie Jane Sharp, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on November 28th, 1935, in Rotan, Texas, Bonnie's journey through life took her from the quiet town of Boonville, Arkansas, to the bustling city of Wichita, Kansas, where she built a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Bonnie's professional journey began at EMC Insurance Company, where she started as a stenographer. Her journey into the world of typing began in the most humble of ways—copying the typewriter keyboard into the dirt of her rural Arkansas home. She practiced tirelessly until she could type upwards of 200 words per minute. Through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, she advanced to the role of secretary and eventually retired as the Human Resources Director in 2000. Her colleagues remember her as a guiding light, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer wise counsel.

Outside of her professional life, Bonnie was a woman of many passions and hobbies. She found joy in crocheting beautiful blankets, scarves, and hats for friends, family, and loved ones. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her generosity and skill shone brightly as she created mask extenders for healthcare workers, showcasing her selflessness and care for others.

Bonnie, affectionately known as the "Dance Grandma," cherished watching her granddaughter's dance recitals and competitions, always offering enthusiastic support. She took great joy in listening to her granddaughter play the French horn and was incredibly proud of her accomplishments in teaching music, including her Grammy nominations.

An avid supporter of Wichita State University, Bonnie cheered on the Shockers with unbridled enthusiasm. In her leisure time, she found solace and satisfaction in working on puzzles, piecing together intricate designs that reflected her keen eye for detail and perseverance

She cherished her daughter Karen's dog, Molly, and loved spending time on the back porch, watching the birds, sharing stories, and reminiscing about fond memories of her mom and dad. Bonnie took great pride in watching her daughter Debra show her dogs Ice and Libby and her many horses throughout the years, always there to support and encourage her with a loving heart.

Bonnie's love for family extended beyond her immediate circle. She adored her brother Howard and sister Christine, providing them with unwavering support and care, especially during their final days. She was preceded in death by both Howard and Christine.

Her family was the heart of her world. Bonnie is survived by her loving daughters, Debra Powers and Karen Gomez, her son-in-law Ralph Gomez, and her cherished granddaughter, Courtney Powers. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness lives on through them.

Bonnie Jane Sharp will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her work. She touched the lives of many with her generosity, warmth, and indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
