Obituary

Our beloved Jeane Searls, of Atwood passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on October 26, 2025, at the age of 100 years.

Jeane was born to parents Earl and Ella Howard on April 20, 1925, in Oakley, KS. She eventually ended up in Colby where she attended high school and met Roy. On February 3, 1945, Jean married her high school sweetheart, Roy Searls. Roy and Jeane celebrated 78 years of marriage and had four wonderful children—Carol Ann, Daniel, Debby, and Kenneth.

Jeane was actively involved in Eastern Star for most of her life. She also loved to play bridge and participated in several clubs. She and Roy loved to golf, bowl and roller skate together.

Her greatest accomplishment was her family, which she took tremendous pride in taking care of. She was famous for her homemade sticky buns, ice cream, and various other treats. She loved to crotchet and passed down many blankets to her family and friends.

Jeane was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ella Howard; by husband, Roy; sisters, Anne and Shirley; daughter, Carol Ann Heim; son, Kenneth Searls; son-in-law, John Sandoval; brother, Don; and daughter-in-law Renee.

Jeane is survived by daughter, Debby Sandoval of Wichita, KS; son, Daniel Searls; daughter-in-law, Tammy Searls Haldeman of Quinter, KS; grandson Tim Laurent and wife Debbie of Lawrence, KS; granddaughter, Sharie Laurent of Wichita, KS; grandson, Chris Searls and wife Michele of Farmington, NM; grandson Jacob Searls and wife Holly of Olathe, KS; grandson, Brandon Searls and wife Janet of Wichita, KS; granddaughter Angela Johnson of Hays, KS; grandson Justin Barrett and wife Janelle of Colby, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Kelley Weir and husband Joey of Farmington, NM; great-granddaughter Keri Searls and wife Miranda of Las Cruces NM; great-grandson Kameron Demby of Lawrence, KS; great-granddaughter Whitney Randolf and husband Preston of Denver, CO; great-granddaughter Macie Laurent of Lawrence, KS; great-granddaughters, Grace, Hayley and Addison Searls of Olathe, KS; great-grandson, Ethan Searls of Olathe, KS; great-great-grandchildren Jaycee and Braxton of Farmington, NM; great-great-grandchildren Georgia and Charlotte of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren Chloe, Justice, Brayden, and Lauden of Colby, KS.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM at New Testament Christian Church in Wichita, KS at 2153 S. Market St. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date.
