Benny Lee Farmer passed away January 8th, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS.  He was 73 years old.

Benny was born in Little Rock, AK on October 22nd, 1951.  Preceded by his adopted parents (both deceased) James Leroy Farmer and Ima Jean Johnson.

Benny was loved and is remembered today by his family members:
Wife: Ruth S. Murphy/Farmer.
Two sons: Ben J. Farmer and Taylor C. Farmer (mothered by Benny's first wife: Karen E. Wolf/Farmer)
Stepsons:  Bud I. Neff and Ryan Murphy.
Step grandchildren: Jason I. Neff and Kirsten B. Neff, and Anna A. Murphy.

Benny was a military veteran, serving in the United States Army at the age of 17.  He acquired his GED at the age of 18.  Benny was then deployed to Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 and served Sgt. 2nd Platoon H BTRY (SLT) 29th ARTY.

After honorably discharged from the United States Army, Benny worked at variety of jobs.  He worked at Cessna with fiberglass production.  He later was employed at Land Air Truck Route Delivery in Northwest Kansas.  Eventually Benny would work as a vehicle salesman / mechanic alongside with his father's owned business "Farmers Used Truck Sales."

Benny started his career in 1983, at the age of 32 and served over 39+ years with the United States Postal Service working as automation mail clerk.  Benny retired at the age of 72.

During most of his adult life Benny enjoyed fishing, his favorite location at El Dorado Lake, KS.  His favorite fish to catch and eat was Crappie fish.

Benny is remembered having a kind heart.  On certain occasions he would rescue / adopt abandoned dogs and cats that were at risk out in rural Kansas.

As a veteran, Benny never lost his pride serving the U.S. military.  He always held close to his thoughts and his heart to prisoners of war / missing in action military personnel.  Benny would express this by mounting a POW/MIA license plate to the front of his truck and would drive everywhere to remind everyone that he came close contact with to read this plate to ensure they are never forgotten.

Benny's hobbies were watching western movies and tv shows.  Some of his favorites included the Rifleman, Bonanza, The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and don't get started on how closely he watched the weather and news.  His wife Ruth stated she would never need to watch the weather because he would always tell her what was going on every day.

Benny used to love riding horses alongside his friend and travel companion Bernie Zalaznik.
Benny enjoyed traveling to Denver, CO to attend the National Western Stock shows.

In addition, Benny enjoyed watching Nascar racing and would tend to fall asleep while dreaming about the races on the weekends.

Benny would attend car shows showcasing his favorite style of American muscle cars and hot rods.

Benny enjoyed watching NFL football games and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Benny admired airplanes and aviation and would attend air shows at Jabara airport.  Additionally, he had friends that were pilots, and he would fly as passenger in their private owned propeller airplanes.

Benny enjoyed American style food.  Some of his favorite restaurants included the old Town and Country over on W. Kellogg, Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, Cracker Barrel (which he loved their pecan pies), Jimmy's Diner, Braum's and McDonalds.  Benny would also tend to go out and buy Dunkin Donuts on Sunday mornings and collect a dozen to take home to feed the family. Benny would stop over at the nearest QuikTrip. For a quick snack and grab a large coffee.

In accordance with his final wishes, Benny declined to hold funeral services.  His final request was to be cremated and have his ashes dispersed at his home ranch down near the creek bed which was his favorite spot.
