Barbara Ann Sharp, 92 passed away Saturday December 21, 2024, at Waldron Place Senior Living, as she lovingly referred to as her cruise ship, docked on dry ground. Born in Hutchinson, Kansas June 15, 1932, to the late Albert Charles Schroder and Margaret (Miller) Sharp. Her Mother later married Thomas Jefferson Sharp.
Barbara married the love of her life Lee Everett Sharp on October 3, 1981. They enjoyed taking cruises, weekend getaways, attending Ozark Christian College conferences, spending time with friends, bowling and playing cards.
Barbara attended Ludlow High School in Ludlow, Missouri. She was a guard on the girls' basketball team and graduated as a Valedictorian. She attended Salt City Business School completing high honors and was asked to stay on as the business school's secretary. After four years at Salt City Barbara expanded her horizons, working at a job in Chicago for a short time before moving back to Kansas and going to work at Hussey Insurance Company. She settled into a permanent job with Santa Fe Trucking transferring to New Mexico where she worked until 1981.
Barbara volunteered for American Red Cross was a member of ABWA (American Business Women's Association) and was awarded Woman of the Year in 1989. She was church secretary until the age of 89. Bible study was important, and she continued through the last week of her life. She met for regular games of Hand and Foot, UNO and was amazing at regular trivia and Bible trivia, working sudoku, and word puzzles.
Survivors include Brothers Marvin (Jackie) Schroder, Cornwall, PA. Ivan Schroder Hannibal, MO., Sister Betty Hoppes, Topeka, KS
She was preceded in death by her husband, Parents, brother Clifford and sisters Maxine, Lois and Leila.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice House of Hutchinson, Kansas.
