In Loving Memory of Barbara G. (Alcorn) Reed

August 27, 1950 - September 15, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara G. (Alcorn) Reed, who departed this world on September 15th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Winfield Memorial Hospital. Barbara was born on August 27th, 1950, in the heart of Arkansas City, KS, to her proud parents, Chester E. Norton and Annie M. (Willoughby) Crampton.

Barbara's journey through life began in Ark City, where she attended school before relocating to Lawrence, KS, where she laid the foundation of her beautiful family at a young age.

During her first marriage, Barbara was blessed with four wonderful children who became her world. She embarked on a career at GM in her youth and later transitioned into the healthcare industry, where she served as a dedicated health aide until her retirement.

Barbara had a deep passion for gardening, sewing, and painting. She cherished moments spent with family and friends, occasionally finding joy in trips to the casino. Those fortunate enough to have known her can attest to her heart of gold.

She is survived by her loving sister, Patty Ruggenberg of Ark City, KS, her son Donald Alcorn and his wife Linda of Seattle, WA, her son Anthony Alcorn and his wife Dina of Seattle, WA, and her daughter Brenda Summers and her husband Toby of Ark City, KS. Barbara also leaves behind 14 cherished grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Chester Norton, her mother, Annie Crampton, and her son, Michael Alcorn, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Barbara's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 3-5pm at Venue 208, 208 S. Summit St. Arkansas City, KS 67005

The memory of Barbara will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy of love and warmth will continue to inspire us all. In her honor, we encourage you to share your sympathies and plant trees in remembrance.
