Obituary

Arthur Henry Churchman, Jr., 78, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center. He was born on August 12, 1947, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Arthur Henry Churchman, Sr., and Billie Lee Burton Churchman.

Survivors include his sister, Victoria Salas-Silva of New Mexico; his uncle, Michael Churchman of Logan, Kansas; and his aunt, Peggy Winters of Arizona. Arthur retired from Bombardier in 2012 after many years of dedicated service.

Art lived life the way it was meant to be lived, with curiosity, courage, and an open road ahead. A true adventurer at heart, he spent much of his life traveling across the country, collecting stories, friendships, and memories everywhere he went. Every mile mattered, and every moment had to be just right. He noticed what others missed, cared more than he ever truly said, and held himself to a standard few could fully see. He found joy not in standing still, but in discovering what lay beyond the next turn.

Art had a deep appreciation for old cars, the kind with character, history, and a story to tell. He could often be found admiring their craftmanship or sharing tales about them with anyone willing to listen. Those who knew him understood that his love for adventure was matched only by his devotion to his loyal dog, Sam. Sam was his constant companion and best friend, and their bond was a source of comfort and joy throughout his life.

Art will be remembered for his independent spirit, his appreciation for the simple things, and the way he embraced life with authenticity and heart. He leaves behind countless memories, miles traveled, and a legacy of living freely and fully. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
